Nurgle Defiler / Soul Grinder - Painting update

Here is the latest update on my Nurgle Defiler / Soul Grinder model.  I went through the same series of 5 washes on top of my high/low black/white primer.  I started with a black wash, followed by a green wash, dark green wash, brown wash, and back to a black wash.

Also started up a new Nurgle Sorcerer and 4 additional Plague Marines to give me two full squads of seven. Updates coming soon...

Nurgle Defiler, modeling and base coat finished

All the final touches were completed on my Nurgle Defiler / Soul Grinder.  The last bit of weathering and sand were applied to the model in order to give it that nice disgusting look.  Also new to this update is the completed lower mouth section.  I really feel this helps out the overall look of the model as well as helping to add a bit of putrid girth to the lower half.

I will begin the dipping process this week, along with the rest of my Nurgle models so will hopefully have some actual painting updates coming soon...

Nurgle Army update... say Cheese!

Here is a group shot of my Current Nurgle Army.  As it stands I have around a 1000+ point that is not quite functional but definitely playable.  On the first row from left to right we have a Defiler, Rhino, Summoned Greater Daemon, Daemon Prince.  Second row starts off with 3 Plague Spawn, 10 Plague Marines, and 2 Obliterators.

So what do you think I should add next? or should I wait to see what the new Chaos Codex has in store?

Nurgle Defiler / Soul Grinder modeling update

Here is the latest update to my Nurlge Defiler / Soul Grinder.  I was not completely happy with the height and overall lankiness of the model, so I decided to chop much of the legs off in order to achieve something a bit more stumpy and dynamically posed.  You can see the original post here

I added quite a bit of overall dremmel drill weathering and sand to help scum it up a bit, and have been working on adding a bit more girth to the body.  On the back of the model I added several melted plastic tubes surrounded by green stuff to cement it in place.

I plan on adding a second mouth to the front of the model as well as a belly that is drooping to the ground.  estimated completion of model as shown is around 70%.  Updates to come...

Plague Bugs - Nurgle Army progress so far - Chaos Space Marines

This is the progress of my ongoing Nurgle Army the Plague Bugs.  I wanted something a little different than most other Nurgle armies so I decided to concentrate less on the disease aspect of the army and focus in on the insect, cloud of flies, fluff a little more.  So it only seemed natural to use Tyranid parts for this project.

We will start off with the Troops, so far I have a set of 10, I know not very Nurgle of me, but it was what I had.  I plan on making 4 more (Champion, 2 special weapons, and vanilla) so I have 2 squads of 7 with special weapons.

Next we have the transport, a Nugle Rhino with Havoc Launcher.  I can run this with extra armor or Daemonic Possesion if needed but the cost rarely seem worth the points.  Hopefully in the new Chaos Space Marine/Renegade/Legions codex we will get some additional options for transport... Dread Claw finally... hopefully...  When the new codex comes out, I will decide on what the second transport will be.

Now for the all impressive Chaos Space Marine Fast Attack section.  Normally would not put any effort into this section, but it was a dual purpose model for my Chaos Daemon army as well.  Unfortunately it does not matter if I run these as my Chaos Spawn, or Beast of Nurgle they perform about the same... poorly.  But since I am running a dedicated Nurgle list, I wanted to include them. Here is the set of 3:

Next up is the HQ section.  One Chaos Space Marine Nurgle Daemon Prince.  I am not finished with the weathering, greenstuff, or additional Nid parts, but here is where it stands now...

Lastly is the Nurgle Defiler, or the Plague Spider.  As with the DP, still need to weather, greenstuff, and some additional Nid bits.  The Plague Spider is equipped with a Heavy Flamer and Heavy Bolter.

Still left to build:
  • 2 squads of 7 Summoned Deamons
  • 1 Greater Deamon (which will double as my Great Unclean One/Kugath for Chaos Deamon list)
  • Unknown Heavy Support tank....
As always comments always welcome...

Chaos Space Marine / Chaos Daemons - Nurgle Defiler / Soul Grinder

My Nurgle Defiler continues with the insect/tryanid look of the rest of my Plague army.  12 Tyranid legs were used to give this one a different look compared to most Defilers.  A larger custom head was made from 3 spot lights (borrowed that idea from the internets, thanks you internets!) and more Nid bits.  added a nice spinal cord as well.  This is one of my favorites, but it is so tall, and spiky that it is difficult to transport.

Other Nurgle projects: Plague Bugs, Plague Spawn, Daemon Prince, Rhino

Chaos Space Marine / Chaos Daemons - Unmarked Defiler / Soul Grinder

This is one of two of my Defiler/Soul Grinders with 2 additional close combat weapons that were given to me by my friend Adam, the source of most of my Tyranid conversions.  Head and but are from a McDonald's Happy Meal T-Rex toy my son gave me.  I cut apart the skull and body from the T-Rex and then attached the skull to the cannon, and the body as the but of the spider.  Greenstuff was applied to most exposed parts of the T-Rex and textured with various dental tools.  Painting is far from done, but I am trying to get most of my stuff documented so I can track my progress.  Spent quite a few hours on the head, and am really like the way the eyeball hangs out of the socket.  This is another staple for all of my Chaos Space Marine / Chaos Daemons lists.  Defilers are just too fun to play and always intimidate.
