Send me your Spawn conversions

If you ever want a fun project, read the fluff on Spawn or Beasts of Nurgle, then go through your bits box and start grabbing pieces.   Send me links to your favorite Spawn projects, and if I get enough I will do an article featuring all of them.

I added a few dashes of sand to my Plague Spawn and they are now ready for primer.  Be back with updates on these soon...

Nurgle Defiler / Soul Grinder modeling update

Here is the latest update to my Nurlge Defiler / Soul Grinder.  I was not completely happy with the height and overall lankiness of the model, so I decided to chop much of the legs off in order to achieve something a bit more stumpy and dynamically posed.  You can see the original post here

I added quite a bit of overall dremmel drill weathering and sand to help scum it up a bit, and have been working on adding a bit more girth to the body.  On the back of the model I added several melted plastic tubes surrounded by green stuff to cement it in place.

I plan on adding a second mouth to the front of the model as well as a belly that is drooping to the ground.  estimated completion of model as shown is around 70%.  Updates to come...

Blogger's Best # 3

Back again with another Blogger's Best featuring my favorite picks for the last few weeks.  Hoping to inspire fellow modelers with the work of others.

The Hobby Ambit has kit-bashed a very original squad of Adeptus Custodes Terminators.

SincaiN40k created some cool action poses for his Space Wolves

Eye of Error has been featuring many of his Mariner themed Chaos Space Marines

El Arte de Warhammer 40,000 shows off the best building piece... ever.

Teacher by Day, Wargamer by Night combined a metric ton of bits for a mean looking
Battlewagon.

Miniature Tim teaches some great concepts on colors and how they work together.  Very important read.

Spikey Bits has a great Defiler conversion that is a must see.

The Vanus Temple is creating a monstrous Fateweaver/Cockatrice conversion.

Dark Future Games features the best and only Ork/Necron conversion I have ever laid my eyes on.  Definitely wins for the most original converted army.

Slaanesh Terminators about 50% painted...

So my Slaanesh Terminators are nearing completion.  I have ran through my series of light blue, dark blue, pink, and black washes to achieve my general color.  Overall I am very happy with this effect and didn't require any drybrushing or fine detail work. The basic approach was to dip in pink and tip it on its side to dry, then dip in blue and tip it on the opposite side to dry, then dip in black and let it dry standing upright.  Once complete, I will detail with a Silver/chrome for the weapons, and flesh and bone for other bits.

For their load out, I wanted to stay fairly cheap due to the extra cost of the Mark of Slaanesh, so I equipped them as follows:  Twin Lightning Claws, Power Fist/Heavy Flamer, Power Weapon/Combi-melta (x2).  I am debating about changing the Power Fist to a Chain Fist, but just not sure?  Any opinions would be appreciated on that.  Of course with the new Codex coming out, I am hesitant on doing to much with my CSM army at the moment.

These are the early beginnings of my all Slaneesh army, and will join my Slaanesh Daemon Prince, Noise Marines, and Slaanesh Dreadnought.  Updates to come...

Nurgle Demon Prince finally ready for primer...

So I finally got the last bit of weathering (dremmel drill and sand) finished on my Nurgle Demon Prince and he is now ready for some primer.  I am going to try a new technique this time and use both black and white primers, so that the majority of the model is white, while the recesses remain black, hopefully bringing some more depth to the model.  Updates coming soon...

Great Unclean One / Ku'Gath - Skaven Hell Pit Abomination Kitbash (Update 2)

Got quite a bit of work completed recently on my GUO/Ku'Gath conversion.  I am much happier with the appearance of the head portion and added a decent amount of work to the back as well.  Dremmel drill weathering and sand were added to help Nurglize it a bit more.  Overall I approached this project as more of a giant Beast of Nurgle, or Plague Spawn, instead of the Classic GUO.

I melted down plasticard tubing for the back vents, and like the look enough I am going to do it on my Nurgle Defiler as well.

The next couple shots show good views of the 3 eyes and fat sack attached to the head.  Looks suitably disgusting.

Cyberwolves - Warhound Conversion

Here are my early work in progress shots of my Space Wolves Cyberwolves.  These are originally Chaos Warhounds without the horns and tails, and combined with Space Marine backpacks for head and ears, and a little guitar string for some mechanical goodness.  Still working out exactly how I want to do the tail, since I want to have around 30-45 standard wolves, I am looking for something that is not too time consuming.  Overall I am happy with the progress so far, but due to the new release of the Space Wolves, I now need to replace all my original cavalry bases with 40mm round bases.  Updates to come.

Space Wolf Terminator Heavy Weapon Conversions

After realizing the insane cost of trying to obtain three Cyclone Missile Launchers, I decided to make my own.  Digging through the bitz boxes I came across quite a few AoBR Missle Launcher backpacks.  Never seen Terminators with backpacks so figure I would give it a try.  Since that would be the common theme I figure it would only be natural to have a backpack mounted tank for the Heavy Flamer.  To mount the backpacks I had to shave off a good portion of the backside of the model.  I used a pair of smoke launchers, cut and modified for the Missile Launchers, and over all am happy with the way they turned out.  The Heavy Flamer model was shaved down in the same way, but with a Ork Burna tank strapped to his back.  I have not finished all the iconography yet, but it is getting there.

I plan on having three variants to my SW army; Heavy Terminators, Heavy Calvary, and a fair mix of the both.

A playable Space Wolf army is still a long way off, updates to come...

250 Members to the W.I.P. Blogroll

We are up to 250 members actively running in the W.I.P. blogrolls.  I have had to split them up into 3 sections, organized alphabetically, due to Blogger issues when you get 100+, things start to act a bit strange.  Each section will feature the latest 25 posts, for a total of 75 updates from my favorite sites across the net.

Also new is the W.I.P. Blogroll tab at the top of the page showing the full list of all 250 Blogs, as well as an easy subscribe button to add them all to your reader.

Marsekay's Painting delivers a sweet Terminator Librarian.

Juggers's Garage makes me envious of his terrain size.

dieVincis has a very cool table that would be a treat to play on.

Heresy Workshop created a very impressive Fortress.

Rust and the City shows some good tips for Nurglizing, and inspired me with his sick Dread.

A Guardsman Guide to Glory has a quality piece of Apoc size terrain.

Great Unclean One / Ku'Gath -Skaven Hell Pit Abomination Kitbash (Update 1)

Here is the latest update to my Ku'Gath / Great Unclean One / Greater Summoned Daemon of Nurgle.  A bit more work was done to the head and arms as well adding the rear barrels of sludge.

Here is nice side shot of the head, it is taking on a bit more shape that I am looking for, but I still want to add a big droopy neck and more nastiness.  The top portion of the head where eyes and nostrils will be is still undecided.

I like the sickle that is predominant in most Nurgle fluff so it seemed like a easy leap to use a Nid bit as one of the arms.  Also you can see the addition of the barrels, I wanted them to look like they were engrossed in his body, so a bit more work is needed.   I am planning on having some sludge spilling and boiling out of them as well.

On the back right side I am going to melt down plastic tubes for fungus growths and have them line the back, trailing from the head to the but.

Updates coming soon....
